Most users of tablets, smartphones, MP3 players, and other small mobile devices know that the tiny speakers in those devices are often inadequate. I have a fairly large stereo Bluetooth speaker (16 watts) that's great for times when I want a lot of sound, but more often than not, I just need a little more sound, and the 2-watt Accessorise mini-speaker is perfect for that. It's a remarkable little speaker, only a bit more than 2�" in diameter, with a flat base to keep it from rolling away. A single multipurpose switch controls the power on/off, Bluetooth pairing, and volume. I used the Bluetooth to connect to my Kindle Fire HD (7"), and the speaker worked perfectly. The multipurpose control even let me go forward or back in the music playlist I was using. I did the same with my Android smartphone. Both of my devices connected and paired with the speaker in a few seconds. I then turned off Bluetooth and hardwired the speaker to my Kindle Fire, and it worked perfectly in that mode.
Inside my house, I got very good reception at distances up to about 30 feet from the sound source, even through two walls. Beyond that, the sound started breaking up.
This may become one of those "how did I ever get by without one of these" gadgets. With its size, it's so easy to carry around, and it's always handy. There's a little drawstring bag that holds everything - speaker, USB charging cable, audio cable (3.5 mm), and instructions.
Note that the speaker does not come with an AC wall charger. The charger should provide DC 5 volts at 0.50 A. Most people probably have several chargers that will work. I used my e-ink Kindle charger (DC 5 volts at 0.85 A), which worked fine. The cable from the charger should end in a micro-USB plug. The speaker will also recharge its internal battery from a USB port on a PC.
Overall, this is a splendid little accessory for small mobile devices.
