After a few years of building speaker systems for just about every one else in the MP3 player market, the folks at Sony finally get down to business and deliver on a good, compatible product for their loyal Walkman buyers. The arrival of the Sony Walkman Speaker Dock is long overdue.

Packed with twin 10 watt speakers and a bass boost feature, this system easily filled a 20 x 24 room with a rich, crisp sound that covered the bases wall to wall. Music from both my play lists and FM radio was crystal clear. Once I switched on the integrated bass boost feature a much deeper, but not over powering bass poured out. The bass feature is okay but nothing to get excited about. By no means will this speaker dock be confused with a big ticket wall of sound. By design, its mission is to enhance and not overpower a room.

This stealthy black bodied unit also serves as a charger as well as a speaker system. One of the sweeter surprises is the remote control. Besides powering up and volume buttons, the remote easily opens play lists on my MP3 player. I can go back or fast forward to another song with ease. Bass boost control and muting are also featured. The remote is powered by two AAA batteries which are not included. Connecting another player via the auxiliary mini-port (located on the back of the speaker dock) is also an option. Connection cable is not included.

Weighing in at a little over 4 pounds and measuring 12.6" x 6.2" x 8", the Walkman Speaker Dock fits almost anywhere in the house. Out of the box this system is packed with an AC power adapter, instructions, remote control, and two Walkman base adapters. The adapter is an oval shaped attachment that allows for pairing of all Walkman models that are supplied with a round shaped attachment. Buyers should take note, NOT ALL WALKMAN PLAYERS ARE COMPATIBLE with this speaker system. We have three S series Walkmans. They pair up beautifully with this unit. However, my neighbor's E series Walkman doesn't play or charge on this system. The standard one year warranty is also tacked onto this product.

Sleek, compact and with an overall great sound quality, the Sony Walkman Speaker Dock exceeds my expectations. For most Walkman owners, this model is definitely a step in the right direction. I highly recommend this product.
