4They really are that good
By kamera
I have the non-PLUS version. Not sure what the diff is looking at the specs, other than mine weren't available in Hot Pink, and cost $40 less. Maybe someone else can enlighten me?

I've had mine for a couple years (listening to them now). They sound fantastic, are portable (with a rugged carrying case), have a solid feel, and are very well designed. Solid amount of bass - I rarely need to turn the EQ on on my mp3 player/laptop, and the satellites are crisp as advertised.

Downsides:
- could use maybe another foot of cable for each speaker, and as it's a proprietary connector, you're not extending it without a pair of wire cutters. Still, they're designed to be "laptop" speakers, and are perfectly suitable for that.
- again, proprietary speaker cable/connector - if it goes bad... warranty? Wire cutters? PITA, though the volume control in the right speaker wouldn't be viable otherwise. And it's a heavy duty cable that's lasted 2y for me so far.
- AC only, no batteries, which I think is a positive. A load of D batteries would ruin the form factor, they'd likely burn out in a day, and probably not give enough juice to drive them properly.

So, three downsides that aren't, really. Just design choices that I'm happy with because they sound great. They might even be worth the ridiculous $40 price increase.

5Impressive sound
By Robert van der Laan
Very impressed with the sound of this speaker set. I purchased this set for a fixed computer setup and had limited space on my desk. When I received them the speakers were even smaller than I expected. The two satellite speakers are just slightly bigger than a golf ball. The bass speaker is bigger, but hides nicely behind my 22" computer screen. The sound is very detailed with a nicely balanced bass. The overall volume is limited, good for desk use (movies, videos, music), but do not expect room filling sound. Just as a test I connected the speaker set to my flat screen TV and the sound was very good, but not enough volume for dynamic movie scenes. The wires also limit the distance between the speakers to about three feet. Operation of the set is easy with the two buttons for volume and power. I do miss a headphone jack though. If you regularly want to connect a headphone, look for a speaker set that has a headphone jack on one of the satellites.

4If you lack space, this is the best in class...
By Ben
I have very little real estate on my desk, I went through a few products trying to find the one that was just right. I tried the Edifier Exclaim e10s, they sounded great, but they just didn't fit on my little corner desk with dual monitors. Then I saw this set (MP300), seemed like they would be gimmicky and not really have the sound, but had a couple good reviews so worth a shot for me. Why not! I've already been getting them in shipping them out, so what's another set?!

I just got them today and have been putting them through the ringer, and I think they are here to stay. They fit perfectly on my little corner desk with dual monitors. The supplied cable doesn't quite spread out to the ends of a dual monitor setup, but they slide in right under the screens and sit nicely on the LCD stands. The subwoofer fits right behind the monitors perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased with the space saving I get with these guys....but will they sound good?

After reading the reviews here I expected to be hearing Bose Acoustimass sound quality. They don't sound that good. In fact I was disappointed at first. Plugged them and straight away got to playing some tracks. Without tweaking they were harsh on the treble and not much bass from the sub. And there is no way to control the subwoofer volume or adjust bass/treble on the device which is kind of a bummer.

Not wanting to give up, I went into my soundcard (Realtek HD) properties and created a custom EQ upping the bass range, cutting the mids a touch, and turning down the treble and I was quite pleased with the result after that.

All in all, there are cheaper full size sets out there for less money that will sound better than these. But if you don't have the real estate for those sets, the MP300 is the best in class. I would recommend them for anyone wanting some decent sound but also wants to be able use their small desk for something other than holding a speaker system.
